Classroom Design

Digital Immigrant

In the world today, society is moving quicker and quicker into a more modern day and age. Being that this change into a technological has been a fast one, our generation has been able to see the start of this new way of life from the beginning. Now, kids as young as 13 years old have already mastered new technologies such as touch screens, smartphones, and wifi, generations that have just a slight difference in age have a much larger gap in the new world of a technological bases.Younger generations have more of an advantage in understanding these items because they are more involved in their everyday lives as young children. I see myself as a digital immigrant because I can remember when kids actually did things such as played outside in their free time rather than tweeting or posting statuses on different types of social networks. As a child a computer was something that only some kids had or you got on during computer class one day a week. Computers now have been made in to all different types from laptops, tablets, and smartphones. technology was something that was few and far between that has now become apart of every aspect of life.

My Learning Story

I want to tell you about the day that I learned how to make a pb&j. I was in the eighth grade and the entire class had an assignment to write down all the steps to making a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich. After about 10 to 15 minutes the teacher took volunteers to come up and tell her the steps to making the sandwich. everyone had left out minor details that mad making the sandwich impossible. The point of the exercise was to teach us to follow steps correctly, but also that teaching can sometimes be difficult and you should assume that the person doesn't know anything about what you are teaching. That was the day I learned how to make a pb&j.
